-Aged 60+ 

-Able to get to Royal Holloway

-Normal or corrected vision

Donate food at Sainsbury’s Camberley in the Mall,and help fight food poverty in the UK this October

Sainsbury’s taking part in the second-annual ‘Million Meal Appeal’ on 6^th and 7^th October in partnership with FareShare
 

Sainsbury’s Camberley colleagues areencouraging residents to help tackle food poverty this October by taking part in a nationwide food-drive run by Sainsbury’s and FareShare, the national charity tackling hunger across the UK. The second annual Million Meal Appeal takes place on Saturday 6^th and Sunday 7^th October and will benefit more than 700 charities and projects across the UK.

Whether these changes are good or bad depends in part on how we adapt to them. But, ready or not, here they come.

Mary is the proprietor of a bar in Dublin . She realizes that virtually all of her customers are unemployed alcoholics and, as such, can no longer afford to patronize her bar. To solve this problem, she comes up with new marketing plan that allows her customers to drink now, but pay later. She keeps track of the drinks consumed on a ledger (thereby granting the customers loans).

 Starting 26th January in Chertsey, we are running a 7-week course for people who are learning to manage the day-to-day issues that arise when living or in recovery from a mental health condition. The course will be on Wednesday afternoons and run by two trained facilitators who have experience and understanding of mental health conditions. The group will have no more than 12 participants.

You are all aware of thefts of tools from vans parked overnight, but we would like to alert you to an increase of theft from tradesman's vans during the day.
 

Just Advocacy and the National Autistic Society have partnered to facilitate Self Advocacy Groups for adults who have all been diagnosed with either Asperger syndrome or High Functioning Autism. These groups currently run in 2 locations (Camberley and Reigate) in Surrey. During sessions the topic for discussion is decided by the group (the most popular topics tend to be to do with relationships and managing in difficult or awkward social situations) and everyone is encouraged to share their ideas, potential areas of difficulty and suggestions for coping strategies. The group also goes on regular outings that are decided upon collectively. These have so far taken place locally during normal session hours but the group is planning an outing for the summer that would take them further afield-some suggestions have been to go to London, the coast or a theme park. We do ask for a £1 contribution per session for refreshments and individuals need to fund themselves for outings.

Three months into 2009 it seemed another annus horribilis was upon us; March saw the FTSE100 hit 3,500 (a 6 year low). Nine months on, however, the risk of financial Armageddon feels small, stock markets have bounced back and the UK has taken its first steps on the long road to recovery.

The millions of twinkly lights going on across the South of England have caused a brief power cut which has corrupted your servers disc…and you've no back up.

Aaarrrggghhh!

Well, another year is drawing to a close.  And quite a roller coaster it has been.  I attended an alumni event at Cranfield in October that helped me grasp the global economic issues and opened my eyes about the severity of the UK's situation.   I almost wrote a newsletter to share it at the time, but was concerned about how to do so ethically and sensibly.
